Field Deputy (Historic Filipinotown and Silver Lake)

Ryan Rollan Carpio was born in Manila, Philippines, and immigrated to the United States in 1987.  He grew up in Atwater Village, graduated from Loyola High School and the University of California at Berkeley where he earned a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Health and Illness.  Prior to joining the office, he worked as a program manager for a non-profit organization that serves at-risk  and foster youth in Los Angeles and Compton Unified School Districts through programs that focus on tutoring and mentoring.

Ryan is the field deputy for Historic Filipinotown and Silver Lake.  He hopes to bring awareness of city government to the community and help educate youth about social justice.

During his spare time, Ryan volunteers teaching Confirmation classes to first- and second-year high school students in his parish, and the Pilipino language Tagalog to children at a non-profit organization in the community. During his spare time, he likes to sing, take short walks on the beach, eat, make people laugh and save the world (not necessarily in that order).
