World Premiere of “Evangeline, the Queen of Make Believe” – May 12
On May 12, About Productions and Bootleg Theater present a world premiere multimedia theatrical event: Evangeline, the Queen of Make Believe.
Set against the 1968 student walk-outs in East L.A., Evangeline takes the audience on a journey of self-discovery when neighborhood roots and the make-believe world collide. The story is based on the personal experiences of the writers growing up in the Mexican American community during the fight for equal education and civil rights. The stories have been put in theatrical form by Grammy Award winners David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos. Co-directed by Theresa Chavez and Rose Portillo, Evangeline is a story of inspiration and creativity.
The play runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. starting May 12 at the Bootleg Theater (2220 Beverly Blvd). For more information on ticket pricing and reservations, please call 213-389-3856 or visit www.bootlegtheater.org.
