Marta Segura

Senior Advisor

Marta Segura is a senior advisor to Councilmember Eric Garcetti.

Marta cares deeply about engaging communities in civic life, the environment, and enhancing the quality of life and health for all. She brings more than 15 years of management and leadership experience to Council District 13.

Prior to joining Councilmember Garcetti’s office, Marta was the lead consultant of a leadership and organizational development firm that serves small and medium-sized non-profit organizations in Southern California. As the Associate and Development Director for Communities for a Better Environment, she spearheaded campaign development and fundraising efforts. A veteran of the non-profit sector, she also played a role in philanthropy as a program officer for the Flintridge Foundation and the California Endowment. Her first position in the non-profit sector was as a Program Director at the UCLA Center for Labor Research and Education.

In her spare time, Marta spends time with her son and husband on nature walks and at museums and festivals, and is herself engaged in advocacy efforts on many of the issues about which she cares deeply. She is involved with a number of volunteer organizations, including the American Friends Services Committee where she serves on the Executive Board for the Los Angeles Chapter, the Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training, and several others that give her an opportunity to provide leadership training to young people.

Marta holds a Master of Public Health from UCLA’s School of Public Health and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. She was born and raised in San Jose, California, and has lived in Los Angeles since 1988.
