LADWP supports Energy Star

November 28th, 2011 — 3:32pm

As Thanksgiving leftovers near an end, the L.A. Department of Water and Power reminds us to be conscious of our energy use as Angelenos decorate for the holiday season.

Switching to Energy Star decorative light strings would reduce over 700 million kWh of electricity per year, and greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by the equivalent of 100,000 cars.   Rated LED lights are certified by Energy Star to reduce energy maintenance and cooling costs.  They are also durable and don’t break like traditional bulbs!

The LADWP encourages Angelenos to look for the Energy Star label and learn the facts before purchasing Christmas lights and other holiday-related items.

T’is the season to be merry and… (environment-consciously) bright!
