The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is having its annual Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, November 6, at Dodger Stadium. This in-stadium walk will raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and all proceeds go towards T1D research by JDRF.

An extra bonus for those who volunteer this weekend at the Echo Park Community Cleanup: bring a light colored t-shirt and local boutique Feeding Birds will silk screen it with an “I Heart Echo Park” logo. Show your pride in your neighborhood by helping to keep it clean and wearing your new shirt!
Led by the Echo Park Improvement Association, the clean-up starts on Saturday, November 5, at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers will gather at the Jack in the Box at 1710 Glendale Blvd.

Council District 13 is sponsoring a Community Clean-Up on Glendale Blvd in Echo Park!
Join us on Saturday, November 5, to brighten up our neighborhood.
The clean-up will include trash pick-up, graffiti removal, and sidewalk clean-up. We’ll provide trash bags and supplies, but we need volunteers. Meet us at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Jack in the Box (1710 Glendale Boulevard).

Join the fun at the Elysian Recreation Center on Halloween Monday for games, prizes, and your favorite Halloween candy.
The carnival begins at 4 p.m. at the Elysian Recreation Center (1811 Ripple Street). This year’s Halloween festivities will feature a costume contest and other fun activities for kids. Come enjoy a night out dressed as your favorite character!

The Green Festival is back in Los Angeles and celebrating its 10th year! The Green Festival is a project of Green America and Global Exchange, which are organizations promoting sustainability.
This two-day festival will feature many exhibitions including “Yoga & Movement,” “Media Revolution and Green Cinema,” as well as a “Green Food” Stage!
You can also check out the DIY workshops on cooking and urban bee keeping, participate in workshops on green entrepreneurship, and maybe even win a FORD Community Green Grant!
The event takes place at the L.A. Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa Street) on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, October 30, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, October 26, join Hollywood community members at a town hall meeting regarding safety and homelessness issues in the neighborhood around Selma Elementary School.
The informational meeting will include a presentation by Hollywood Property Owner’s Alliance Executive Director Kerry Morrison and a representative from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.
The meeting will take place in the auditorium at Selma Elementary School (6611 Selma Ave) at 6:00 p.m.
